Common Diseases and Remedies

 Powdery mildew,  black rot.

White powdery growths on leaves, stems, and petioles which then leads to necrosis as the disease progresses. Infection generally starts in the shaded areas of plants on older leaves, but this diseases can quickly cover entire plants.

1 tablespoon baking soda and ½ teaspoon liquid soap in 1 gallon of water.

Application of a fungicide that contains either chlorothalonil or mancozeb every 10 to 14 days.

What Is A Portulaca plant?

Portulaca flowers from summer until the first frost. It can produce single, double, or semi-double flowers in red, yellow, pink, white, orange, salmon, or bicolor. Purslane grows best in a sunny location or in direct sunlight and well-drained soil. You can also add compost or cow manure when planting.

1.Moss Rose:-

A short, colorful succulent with rose-like flowers. Available in various shades of yellow and mixed colors.  

2.Purslane:-

A ground cover plant with bright yellow and pink flowers. Also known as portulaca, the flowers are white, pink, orange, and yellow. Purslane comes in monochromatic varieties, multicolored varieties, Cinderella varieties, and tiger striped varieties.

3.Portulaca Cinderella:-

Also known as Fairy Tale, this succulent variety comes in many bright colors, including yellow, orange, purple, and pink. It is easy to grow and can be propagated by cuttings.  

4.Sundial Peach:-

 How to Care for portulaca? 

1. Location:-

Portulaca grows in full sun. However, there are at least 6 to 8 hours of daylight.  

2.Sunshine:-

Portulaca requires at least 6 hours of sun per day to bloom. It tolerates high temperatures and low humidity, and can tolerate cool, damp spring weather without frost.  

3.Soil:-

Purslane can grow in average or sandy soils that are well-drained and have a suitable pH.

4.Hydration:-

Portulaca has a high water retention capacity, so it does not require regular watering. However, too much rain can cause root rot.

5.Nourishment:-

Lightly fertilise your purslane after new growth.  

6.Issues:-

Purslane is susceptible to leaf and root diseases. Proper watering, proper hygiene, and preventive care are the best defenses. The main diseases include Botrytis cinerea (grey mould) and crown rot.
